Malcom X letter after hajj

Never have I witnessed such sincere hospitality and overwhelming spirit of true brotherhood as is practiced by people of all colors and races here in this Ancient Holy Land, the home of Abraham, Muhammad and all the other Prophets of the Holy Scriptures. For the past week, I have been utterly speechless and spellbound by the graciousness I see displayed all around me by people of all colors.

I have been blessed to visit the Holy City of Mecca. I have made my seven circuits around the Ka'ba, led by a young Mutawaf named Muhammad. I drank water from the well of the Zam Zam. I ran seven times back and forth between the hills of Mt. Al-Safa and Al-Marwah. I have prayed in the ancient city of Mina, and I have prayed on Mt. Arafat.

There were tens of thousands of pilgrims, from all over the world. They were of all colors, from blue-eyed blonds to black-skinned Africans. But we were all participating in the same ritual, displaying a spirit of unity and brotherhood that my experiences in America had led me to believe never could exist between the white and non-white.

America needs to understand Islam, because this is the one religion that erases from its society the race problem. Throughout my travels in the Muslim world, I have met, talked to, and even eaten with people who in America would have been considered 'white'--but the 'white' attitude was removed from their minds by the religion of Islam. I have never before seen sincere and true brotherhood practiced by all colors together, irrespective of their color.

You may be shocked by these words coming from me. But on this pilgrimage, what I have seen, and experienced, has forced me to re-arrange much of my thought-patterns previously held, and to toss aside some of my previous conclusions. This was not too difficult for me. Despite my firm convictions, I have always been a man who tries to face facts, and to accept the reality of life as new experience and new knowledge unfolds it. I have always kept an open mind, which is necessary to the flexibility that must go hand in hand with every form of intelligent search for truth.

During the past eleven days here in the Muslim world, I have eaten from the same plate, drunk from the same glass, and slept in the same bed (or on the same rug)--while praying to the same God--with fellow Muslims, whose eyes were the bluest of blue, whose hair was the blondest of blond, and whose skin was the whitest of white. And in the words and in the actions in the deeds of the 'white' Muslims, I felt the same sincerity that I felt among the black African Muslims of Nigeria, Sudan, and Ghana.

We were truly all the same (brothers)--because their belief in one God had removed the white from their minds, the white from their behavior, and the white from their attitude.

I could see from this, that perhaps if white Americans could accept the Oneness of God, then perhaps, too, they could accept in reality the Oneness of Man--and cease to measure, and hinder, and harm others in terms of their 'differences' in color.

With racism plaguing America like an incurable cancer, the so-called 'Christian' white American heart should be more receptive to a proven solution to such a destructive problem. Perhaps it could be in time to save America from imminent disaster--the same destruction brought upon Germany by racism that eventually destroyed the Germans themselves.

Each hour here in the Holy Land enables me to have greater spiritual insights into what is happening in America between black and white. The American Negro never can be blamed for his racial animosities--he is only reacting to four hundred years of the conscious racism of the American whites. But as racism leads America up the suicide path, I do believe, from the experiences that I have had with them, that the whites of the younger generation, in the colleges and universities, will see the handwriting on the walls and many of them will turn to the spiritual path of truth--the only way left to America to ward off the disaster that racism inevitably must lead to.

Never have I been so highly honored. Never have I been made to feel more humble and unworthy. Who would believe the blessings that have been heaped upon an American Negro? A few nights ago, a man who would be called in America a 'white' man, a United Nations diplomat, an ambassador, a companion of kings, gave me his hotel suite, his bed. ... Never would I have even thought of dreaming that I would ever be a recipient of such honors--honors that in America would be bestowed upon a King--not a Negro.

All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all the Worlds.

Sincerely,

El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz (Malcolm X)

Indigenous communities In Australia

A British man stands beside a group of Indigenous Australians who have been shackled and chained, early 1900s.

This photograph reflects one of the darkest chapters in Australia’s history — a time when Indigenous men, women, and even children were routinely restrained, marched in chains, and imprisoned under laws designed to control nearly every aspect of their lives.

Under the “Blackbirding” system, forced labor, mass displacement, and violent policing were common. Indigenous people could be arrested without cause, separated from their families, and transported across vast distances while bound in iron chains. Many were taken to labor camps, cattle stations, or prisons, often never returning home.

For the colonizers, it was “law and order.”

For the Indigenous communities, it was oppression, humiliation, and cultural destruction.

The image captures the cruel reality of colonization — not just land being taken, but freedom, dignity, and entire ways of life being stripped away.

Today, this photograph stands as a somber reminder of the resilience of Indigenous Australians, who endured deep injustice yet continue to preserve their culture, language, and identity despite generations of suffering.

Did you know that the origin of the graduation dress in universities goes back to Islamic universities?

The first university in Europe was founded by Muslims in Andalusia in 227 AH 841 AD

Since then, the Arab dress, the “abaya” and the hat, have become the graduation dress in all universities in the world, until the present time.

The graduation cap was made flat because the Holy Qur’an was placed on top of it in the graduation ceremony. When European students graduated, they would wear Arab dress when they returned to their countries and speak Arabic as a sign of their learning. In Andalusia, the person became a scholar who graduated from Arab universities.

Jack Goody said in the book: Islam in Europe: Arab dress and the Arabic language became a sign of prestige for science at that time.

Western civilization keeping people in zoos

At the end of the 19th Century, a group of Selk'nam Indigenous people from Latin America were transported by sea to Europe to be exhibited in human zoos...
The photo was taken in 1899, but the transportation of Selk'nam groups to Europe began in 1889, with the consent of the Chilean government. A total of 11 individuals were sent during this period.
The Selk'nam people lived in the isolated region of Patagonia, between present-day Argentina and Chile. Europeans first encountered them from afar, spotting their distant campfires. Their population was modest; according to a 1896 census, it did not exceed 3,000 individuals. They spoke a language called Chon and lived as hunters and gatherers. They were known for their tall stature, physical strength, and adaptability.
The Selk'nam avoided contact and trade with Spanish colonizers, who seized natural resources, killed off native animals, and established large sheep farms on Selk'nam lands. The Selk'nam could not understand the imposed concept of private property, and hunted sheep for food. Spaniards viewed this as theft and began attacking them — even sending armed gangs to kill them and return with their ears as proof.
In last quarter of the 19th Century, three groups of Patagonian natives were shipped to Europe, where they were weighed, measured, photographed, and displayed in so-called human zoos. They were forced to appear before the public up to six or eight times a day. Healthcare was inadequate, and some did not survive the journey to Europe.
In 1919, only 297 Selk'nam people remained. By 1945, that number had dropped to just 25. In 1974, the last known full-blooded Selk'nam individual, Angela Loij, died — marking the extinction of both the Selk'nam people and their Chon language.

How Europe stole Islamic science

The Stolen Legacy: How Europe Built Its Renaissance on Arabic Science

The narrative of the European Renaissance is often told as a tale of genius suddenly awakening in the West after centuries of darkness. Yet this telling conveniently ignores the foundation upon which that "awakening" was built: the intellectual achievements of the Islamic Golden Age. From mathematics and astronomy to medicine and philosophy, Europe’s so-called “discoveries” were, in fact, the treasures of Arab and Muslim scholars—appropriated, rebranded, and then credited to Western names.

This truth is no longer hidden. European libraries preserve countless Arabic manuscripts, many of them covered with handwritten Latin and English notes in the margins. These annotations are evidence of a systematic transfer of knowledge. Arabic, for centuries, was the language of science in Europe. Universities from Spain to Italy taught Ibn Sina (Avicenna), al-Razi (Rhazes), Ibn al-Haytham (Alhazen), and countless others in their original language. The Renaissance was not a rebirth from within—it was a borrowing from abroad.

But borrowing was not the only channel. There was also theft: discoveries carefully documented by Muslim scientists were stripped of their origins and republished under European names. The history of science, as told today, often erases this debt.

The Circulation of Blood: Ibn al-Nafis vs. William Harvey

William Harvey (1578–1657) is celebrated in Europe as the man who “discovered” blood circulation. Yet centuries earlier, Ibn al-Nafis (1213–1288) had already described pulmonary circulation with clarity in his commentary Sharh Tashrih al-Qanun. He explained how blood passes from the right ventricle of the heart to the lungs, becomes oxygenated, and returns to the left ventricle—a description identical to modern physiology. Harvey, in reality, did not discover; he inherited.

Newton and the Arabic Origins of the Laws of Motion

Perhaps the most striking example is Isaac Newton (1642–1727). His Principia Mathematica is revered as a cornerstone of modern physics, especially his formulation of the three laws of motion. Yet centuries earlier, Muslim thinkers had already articulated these principles in Arabic works—works Newton almost certainly had access to, given the widespread circulation of such manuscripts in Europe.

Newton’s First Law of Motion states:

“An object remains at rest, or in uniform motion in a straight line, unless acted upon by an external force.”

But Avicenna (Ibn Sina, 980–1037) had already written in Al-Isharat wa al-Tanbihat:

“You know that if a body is left alone with its natural state, and no external influence acts upon it, it will necessarily remain in its specific place and form, as compelled by its natural state.”

Newton’s Second Law of Motion declares:

“The acceleration of an object is proportional to the force acting upon it.”

Centuries earlier, Fakhr al-Din al-Razi (1149–1209), in Al-Mabahith al-Mashriqiyya, explained:

“If two bodies differ in their acceptance of motion, that difference is not due to the moving force itself, but to the differing states of the applied force. The force in the larger body is greater than that in the smaller, for what is in the smaller exists in the larger with an addition.”

Newton’s Third Law of Motion proclaims:

“For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.”

Again, Fakhr al-Din al-Razi prefigured this law when he wrote:

“The ring being pulled by two equal forces until it stands in the middle undoubtedly involves each force acting upon it while being counteracted by the other.”

A Stolen Renaissance

The evidence is overwhelming. Europe did not arrive at scientific truth through independent experimentation alone. Rather, it absorbed, translated, and often misattributed the discoveries of Arab and Muslim scientists. This is not to diminish the later contributions of European scholars, but to restore balance to the historical record.

The Renaissance was not the birth of science—it was its inheritance. And much of that inheritance was taken from the Islamic Golden Age without acknowledgment. If today we are to speak of progress honestly, we must begin by recognizing the stolen legacy that underpins so much of Western science.

What’s in a brand

So the other day I went to a warehouse to buy groceries, and yes you can buy stuff straight from a warehouse it’s cheaper . Just not as convenient as supermarket. So there was an old man there who I knew, he was wearing an old shirt and a rubber slippers , you would have never guessed he was actually a millionaire who was running the whole operation. We made some small talk , he knew my family, and after a short time this man calculated my house hold income me and family combined. Man did not skip a beat. Did it in his head like it was second nature to him. I was a bit taken aback to tell you the truth. Then there were the porters men carrying all these heavy bags like human mules , I remember this one Venezuelan man slick hair cut and a brand name shoes . I think it was an expensive Nike actually. Reminds me of another time I was putting out the trash and the garbage man came out also wearing a Nike . Makes you wonder how people save invest and what they spend their money on . A little food for thought.

Miracle of the olive oil in the Quran

  • Surah An-Nur (24:35):
Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. His light1 is like a niche in which there is a lamp, the lamp is in a crystal, the crystal is like a shining star, lit from ˹the oil of˺ a blessed olive tree, ˹located˺ neither to the east nor the west,2 whose oil would almost glow, even without being touched by fire. Light upon light! Allah guides whoever He wills to His light. And Allah sets forth parables for humanity. For Allah has ˹perfect˺ knowledge of all things.
